I just realized that blocking everyone who mildly upsets you only makes your echo chamber smaller, until all you hear is your own whispers. Without anyone ever challenging you, how are you supposed to grow, to understand others? or do you only care about mass approval, so you block those who put your opinions into question — who endanger that perceived loved you get?

I hate that I have to clarify this, but this is not about blocking those who are mean-spirited. It's about those who are not that different from you, but present you a new perspective that triggers you at first, so you completely refuse to even consider the words, or try to understand what it means. That you'd rather be shallow and parrot others' opinions instead of listening to many voices and speak yourself when you know about the topic. Not everyone needs to speak, though. it's okay to shut up and let others who know far more than you do it. And I think that's also a huge problem that came with social media. Everyone thinks they're worth listening to and they're simply not.
